There were times when I want to get back on my knees, but I couldn’t, want to meditate on His love but procrastinated moments. Please don’t be hasty in judging me, we all might have gone through such situations at least once, a sense of running away from God. This gives me a vague picture of Adam and Eve hiding in the garden after they first sinned against God. Being a mother is not easy, being a wife is not easy, being a daughter is not easy, and being a daughter-in-law is not easy if you want to please God through your life. All those phases might be difficult because of one reason- to sacrifice our desire on the altar to fulfill His desire in our life. So, be blessed as you read through this post on Encouraging yourself in the Lord.

As I confessed, sometimes I fail to sacrifice my desire at the foot of the cross. Let us take things simply, the small innocent ways we tried to please God in our life. For, eg, getting up early for morning prayer, helping someone who is in need but neglected due to inconvenience, a more disciplined prayer life, more time spent with the Lord meditating His word. How beautiful our life would be if we trust completely in His providence and wisdom!

Encouraging yourself in the Lord


Who needs encouragement? It is the act of giving someone hope, support or instilling confidence in one’s mind. As Christians, our hope is not in the world or its manifestations. Our hope is in the everlasting hope in God and in His precious son, Jesus Christ who saved us from our sins. The world can show ways to encourage us, but how long can it satisfy us? Jesus is the only one who can satisfy our thirst for love, acceptance, and wisdom.


“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John7:38


And now, we have the Holy Spirit with us, to encourage us, to guide us, and He will lead us to the truth.

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. John 16:13


So, are you wondering how is this relevant? I should say I already helped you in figuring out the most significant person you might be missing to experience in your life whom Jesus promised when He went to be with the father. And the promise of Jesus to encourage you and I is the Holy Spirit, whom we should always listen.

Note: Whatever I write below is not about earthly benefits but spiritual benefits.


Do you want to be overflowing with hope or do you want to experience freedom from depression, anxiety, and all the negative thoughts?


It is possible through the spirit of the Lord

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)


Do you want to experience freedom from all the bondage of sin in your life?


It is possible through the spirit of the Lord

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. (2 Corinthians 3:17)


Do you know your body is a temple of the Lord and how fearfully you must take care of it?


Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)


Do you know you are not alone even when you say you are lonely?


And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever–the spirit of truth. (John 14:16)


Do you know there is someone who loves to teach about Jesus and to remind His words to you so that you may not go astray?


But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (John 14:26)


Who receives the gift of the Holy Spirit?


Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 3:28)


Do you believe you can be a witness for Christ through the power of Holy Spirit?


But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8)


To be encouraged, and be full of hope we need the power of Holy Spirit. This is so important because we cannot live a life without sin with our efforts of pleasing God, but it is only possible by the power of the Holy Spirit.

  • Daily prayer life

As the followers of Christ, we do not need much explanation to this as our Lord did everything in prayer and according to the will of the Father. His ministry was the most powerful, anointed, with countless followers. He found time for the most precious moment before every single step, and we need to experience the same fellowship with God in all the times of our life, whether good, bad or whatever. And it’s not our will but the will of the Father be done in our lives.


  • Speak Life into your situation

How can we speak life to a particular situation?

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

Whatever situation you are in, whether trials or difficult situations of life, always win the evil questions of the enemy with God’s word as Jesus overcome the temptation from Satan in the wilderness. We are no higher than our master, and if He had, we would also have tests in our life, and we can overcome it through the power of His word.


  • Be the laborers in His vineyard

Work for the Lord when you can, It’s simple as it is. Whether small or big, use your talents for the Lord.


  • Fellowship to share your burden

Everyone needs someone to share their problems, hurt feelings or even to stay motivated in a difficult situation. But this intention can turn you away from the principles of God if you do not reach out to the right person in Christ, who corrects and admonishes you to love more, to forgive more and to hope more.


  • Be an active part of the church family

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another–and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25)


  • Finding true Joy in the Lord

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. (Philippians 4:8)


May the Lord lead us.
